Interesting bit from urbanvelo on that Surly Cargo bike.
One of our readers, Dave Vetrano, wrote in to let us know about his custom SurlyTruck he put together from a friend’s wrecked Steamroller frame and a bunch of extra parts he had around the shop. With the platform low to the ground and rigidly attached to the frame the bike should handle large loads of cargo well, far better than with a full sized front wheel forcing the center of gravity skyward.
He [friend who stacked it] buckled the fork and put a subtle curve into the top and down tubes, then he gave it to me! I had a bunch of track parts lying around and wanted a cycletruck. I do metal fab for a living and had never built a bike before so after picking the brains of damn near every bike builder in Northern California I got to brazing. I lengthened the steerer on a Volume BMX fork and put a new front end on the Steamroller, except for the top tube. That used to be the downtube, which explains the curve thru where it says Surly. I’ve got it built up with a SRAM P5 internal hub right now and it’s been serving me just fine. I kept the stock Steamroller geometry and it handles just like a steamroller with a 20″ front, which it sorta is.

Definately, but certainly interesting...
Think this is a repost... Bike looks a little confused but again amazin engineering
not confusing, since it's aimed for commuter, suspension fork is a bit of an overkill though.

i dont understand why its so burly with the frame and sus forks ect when it has (albeit probably fairly strong) thin 700c wheels.
i can see where its good for marketing though.

I could type several pages on why I love this bike. But I'll spare you.
Hats off to both owner and builder.

Silly,
Just get a real cargobike, like this one here:

That one is a fully custom build from Black Sheep. TBH I sell a fair few of my teeth for the handlebars alone.

Damn that's nice!
on another note ---> BMX porn? Not that I know anything about BMX's, however I was shooting a penthouse yesterday and the owner had this in the hallway 'on display'. I think it looks kind of nice, in a retro way

White saddles came late anyway in Road cycling marketing. So it can be very classic to have it white/black...
Not confused at all, what do you mean? I like it.
