use is not the best quality, having broken 2 alien posts myself. also... i reckon the owner is in america where use is even less available
but you brake everything ! from what i've read anyway ;)

what have i broken?? (not sarcasm, im a little puzzled)
besides i'm a very light rider and the second one i broke was a warranty replacement :(

Sry mate, im just joking really, but i remember you saying the Shimano BB broke in 4 months, forks cracked and the wheel half bent.

The Use alien seatpost doesn't come close to a Thomson. The clamp mechanism is weak with poor quality bolts and the finish wears off after a couple of insertions/removals.
My Thomson however still looks like new even after some very tight insertions/removals and the clamp assembly is faultless.

haha oh yea, completely forgot. but to be fair the shimano un26's are shit, and the front wheel and forks weren't my fault
sorry didn't mean to sound rude in the prior post

Alu or carbon ? And was it the post itself or the seat mount ? I'm building up a Look KG451, and have a USE Alien alu to go in it as there ain't many decent 25mm seatposts around.

i have to admit, i broke the clamp on my Alien, cracked. I think it's cos i overtightened it, but we'll see, if the second one goes, i'll side with Mitre and Crane and call them shit.
Until then, I'll say they're good posts only cos i like the design of them and the fact they're light. -

The two bolt Alien clamp was shit. The Cyclops one might be better, haven't tried it.

yea, the one i snapped, seems like a silly idea having 2 bolts, that each time you tighten one side the other side loosens.

alu one on the clamp. i dont think it was due to over tightening as i never wrench the hell out of bolts, i think the clamps are just a bit poo.

As for stem, the Tune Gelles Teil would be a good alternative;
not in this colour of course.

Yeah, I thought that when I saw the clamp (2 bolt). Must be a problem 'cos they now do replacement 1 bolt clamps for them - £15 the cheeky fuckers.

£15 the cheeky fuckers.
Indeed - their marketing twat didn't even free issue me the new Cyclops clamp when we were sponsored by them.

I quite like the USE Alien, good seatposts. Heavy riders need not look at them but barring that, they are good.
