That BMW motorbike is awesome in the extreme.
If there was a chance of owning that for a reasonable amount I'd book motorbike lessons at once.

isn't that BMW a bit customized?
-
• #24181
customised? coming from the 1930's I don't think so, more like a concept.

There's no chance of owning that even for a very unreasonable amount. There's a 1936 R3 (a very ordinary bike) on the bay at the mo for $28,000 BIN

If you read the story of the restoration, you'll find that it was in a crate from the day it was made until recently, and then restored using factory drawings for/by BMW themselves.
The project was handed over to various specialists and BMW workshops. Hans
Keckeisen was in charge of the bodywork, and specialist vintage Boxer engine expert Armin Frey worked on restoring the priceless motor. The bike was stripped down to see what was usable and what would have to be remade. The task in hand became slightly easier when the original design drawings were discovered in the BMW archives. The engine was badly corroded and parts needed to be found from various sources. Some of the missing parts were reasonably easy to gather, as there was an amount of crossover from existing models, other unique parts were remade in Frey's workshop. The four-speed gearbox and final drive were pulled down and the electrical system was also completely rebuilt. This was not your back-yard restoration; the full financial and resources backing of BMW were called into play.

I have ridden a Desmo, and its worth every penny - every Ducati i have ever had has looked like it was put together by a blind drunk Italian in August if you look closely
slightly OT...
