little bits and pieces .. could've used carbon hubs, carbon seatpost clamp, lighter fork..
"Alpha Q have built a one-off, superlight fork for the project, described as “much lighter than standard; much, much lighter – too light to quote!”

Ah, OK, the fork's light enough.

2.97 kg, by Gunther the cunter
That's insane .. I can envisage a 2.5kgs fixed now, maybe even less ..

If you look at Gunther's build sheet and eliminate the gears and one brake, lose one of the rings, shorten the chain and swap the cassette for a single alloy sprocket, you get to around 2.72kg. I don't think 2.5kg is in sight just yet.

At that weight, they probably do float

It's nice to see people in the bike industry pushing the limits of bike design in regards to weight, but it's so light compared to other high end bikes that strength must have been compromised.
If strength has not been compromised why aren't Top cycling Athletes riding them ?
I suspect that the bike here cannot be ridden in any normal capacity without breaking.
i.e riding over a pothole or hefty bump in the road, all things that regular high end bikes have to cope with. The whole point of the bike is defunct don't you think or am i missing the point ?

Its below the UCI weight limit so thats why you wont see similar under the pros - however i like you, and without having much knowledge on the subject, would assume that its not the strongest thing out there
Henry i think its a one piece saddle/post - i seem to recall it or similar being posted in the carbon porn thread

UCI Rules.I'd imagine it would be a bit sketchy to do a fast descent on something that light though.

• #23243
I've missed the all important UCI rules. Makes sense now.
Goes to show how much i follow the sport. -

whats the saddle?
looks like a Tune Speedneedle, probably modified in some way.
-
• #23247
if i were him I'd hope for a "no pothole day" every day
-
• #23248
whats the saddle?
Tune Speedneedle top integrated directly to Schmolke post - no rails or clamp.
the rest of the build list is at http://www.fotos.light-bikes.de/main.php?g2_itemId=11610
