i used to love pro-flexes..
but did anyone ever have one? i imagine they rode horribly..
and then cleverer version of a similar fork design:
no idea whether either of them were good bikes but i like that they were both offering different (although probably less effective) solutions to most forks..

MTB wheelset porn http://www.crankbrothers.com/wheel_tech.php I would : P

i had a proflex - an all silver one - it was actually an ok bike.
It was better than the cannondale delta V I had at the same time - which was a heavy piece of shit.As far as the Pace frame goes - why did Pace ever stop making them - RC200 F8 just beautiful. I don't have a mountain bike anymore, but would fine the cash if I ever saw an F8 for sale.

Worst, most useless fact ever
I'm not sure that it's any worse than any other fact, especially as someone wanted to buy one and I'd imagine it is quite hard to locate owners of these bikes who have ceased to ride them (and I understand that Simon doesn't really ride any more).
In fact, I'd imagine that someone on here knows at least one Klaxon and could find out if Simon still had it and whether he'd be interested in flogging it (assuming that it was an ATX DH not an ATX-1 and TooTallTim was genuinely interested in buying one, if it was for sale).

Does anyone remember the Merlin full suspension? It relied on chainstay flex and a Proflex elastomer. It came out around 1994 and looked a bit like this:

That Whyte was about 2000, apparently they were pretty sweet (and I would expect so for the money). Though I have to say both are Anti Porn they both look horrid. (coming from they guy that has the most roadified mountain bike ever made).

That's not Pro-Flex anti-porn, the real anti-porn is post K2 buyout. I give you: The Animal.

I've seen some full sus by Viper with thin carbon chainstays for this purpose.

my god stop posting this crap. there a prettier MTBs than these, and it's rare that an MTB can be porn to begin with. too complex. Plus back in the 90's they really sucked. People had no idea what they were trying to build. This isn't supposed to be a historical thread. it's supposed to show the perfect combination of form and function, and no MTB in the 90's had that.

scot you're a strange brew. ok hang tight. i'll find a nice MTB that i like
-
• #16297
i love fixed, singlespeed, XC, DH...all sorts...and i can see the beauty in all kinds of designs....be it the appearance, the function, whatever.
Pfff, you're not even a real bike enthusiast. Where's the BMX, the cyclocross, the road bikes. I bet you don't even like unicycles or trikes. -
• #16298
...AND...bmx, cyclocross, and road...:)
Though i draw the line at unicycles!Unicyclist!
Oh, hold on. That doesn't work does it. Damn.

i'm not sure these will allow embedding so here's the links. It's hard to find a pleasing photo of this bike, but it's, in my opinion, the best thing going right now. Here are some radom pics i grabbed.
EVIL Revolt: this bike is crazy in my opinion. Perfect rising rate linkage, simple huge pivots, directly adjustable head tube angle by literally replaceing the heat tube fittings. Sick bike where form perfectly follows function.

yea didn't allow embedding huh?
It's a cyclo cross frame, not an MTB frame.
It's nice though.
