I don't understand why this bike has cable discs.
Its an American thing, all the yank 29er folk use them. Still surprises me to see at £3000 custom frame with some cheap cable discs on it, would be horrible in UK mud.

The avid bb7 work pretty well if set up correctly and are easily serviced when on a long ride in the middle of nowhere. Jeff Jones puts them on $15,000 cutom builds!!

or even like this...
really?

It's not an american thing at all...having owned several different discs, both cable and hydraulic...and spent 5yrs riding in Scotland with some of the worst mud in the country i can honestly say that they're still really powerful...and never need bleeding either. The fact that they're cheap doesn't dictate their performance.

Can you use road
caliperslevers with them?
and does anyone know where i can get some on one midge bars? -
• #15757
I'm guessing you meant road 'levers' henry? if so, you can, but they pull back quite far to the bar...the best option is the Dia compe road levers with increased cable pull that work with discs and V brakes and have an internal cam...they work way better.
Are on-one out of stock on the midge bars then? -
• #15758
umm yep.
not paying attention at all five!
Cheers scott.
and yes again, which is annoying as they don't seem to be getting anymore in.... -

Can you use road
caliperslevers with them? There is a specific road version of the Avid BB7 designed to work with normal road levers. Nice enough brakes if you must use cables, but hydraulics win in so many ways I'd never have cable brakes on an MTB.

Nice track ends, horrible welds.

I think the person behind it is on here? Everything on that site is nuts. The kid's tandem makes me want to breed just so that I can get one similar.
I am tempted to stop eating and start saving until I can afford to have a 29er cyclo-cross frame (with paragon style dropouts) made.

Pretty sure that's an uncut (or only slightly cut) Cinelli 62 "L.A. 84". The 3T Moscow has more drop and sharper bend, see http://www.londonfgss.com/post206707-8.html for 3T and http://www.londonfgss.com/post721893-4.html for Cinelli
Indeed, I am staring at an uncut pair right now. They're fun, but a little silly unless you're actually time-trialling. in the '80s.

Holy fuck, i never realised they were that long! I guess mine are cut then. I'm guessing uncut NOS ones must be pretty rare.

The drop-outs look (but probably arn't) pretty shitty.
-
• #15769
good thing it doesn't have drop outs then

track-ends.. didn't have you down as a pedant! :P
the angle of the photo makes the near-side track-end look a bit skew whiff.

being bored and procrastanatory on a Saturday after a night shift makes me pedantic, although not pedantic enough to look up the correct word instead of procrastanatory

What the hell are the things at bottom left tho??
I like the use of the hammersmitch crank, it will make this bike really versitile
