In tests 8 out of 10 respondents just laughed, plumped the pillow and turned away on their side. The other two were already asleep.

I was in germany doing some recording last week and the guy I was with was going though a massive melancholy uncut magazine esque americana thing and now i've got this Felice Brothers song stuck in my head. I literally can't stop singing it. I can't post the vid at work so i'm going to sing you the first verse (the only bit i remember that i keep singing over and over again): *clears throat:
Would you love me, if i told you I was from upstream
If I told you I came from money, white money, would you love me?
I was born down, by a bad little river, in a poor town
where an Indian giver, put a board out, said "boarding house"
call him scarecrow, he kept whores around,
and i'd go there, I'd wait my turn on the broke stairs,
get me that girl with the golden hair, oh yeah
leave your clothes there, on a folding chair.
In that cold room, your breath would twist just like ghosts do,
You said call me Dorothy in red shoes, and the bed moved,
yeah the bed moved, the bed moved..."I looked the band up and they appear to be dylan/band obsessives to the extent that they actually dress and look exactly like brown album era band and live in a big pink house in woodstock etc... which is of course cockery of the highest order but I *still *can't stop singing that fricking verse.

I was working on that issue of Uncut with the Felice Brothers in... They refuse to talk about comparisons with The Band/Dylan even though they've got their own clubhouse thing going on in upstate New York/use the same instrumentation etc... What I've heard is pretty good, bit grown up for me these days... ;]
I'm listening to A.M. by Wilco... Back when Jeff was good... Summer Teeth after that, haven't listened to that LP for ages... -

@Tslain:
Nothing like The Band:
Yeahright. Twunts. It's a bit too contrived for me. But that verse just properly earwormed me. I need to retox my eardrums with something else dirty and hooky.
Also , on that same trip we stayed with a guy who'd just bought some ridiculous £20k KEF speakers. We tried them out with the new Wilco album at silly volumes. Fun. I'm reserving judgement until i've lived with it for a week or two longer though.
EDIT:
these were the badboys:
