I listen to 6 Music as it plays decent tracks from all ages BUT.. it keeps playing that fuking vampire weakend song about balaclaves.. it's weak as piss and pointless. if they carry on the radio goes.

'Wheels' by the Foo Fighters is pretty dire. Back to 6music now, though. My mate has a buddy who's pals with the drummer off Razorlight. We went for a drink once and he was there, and as I was warming down from a particularly vitriolic anti-Razorlight rant (I was working at HMV at the time and had to listen to all sorts of bilge), he just looked at me, emotionless, and said "well I'm just in it for the travelling", as our mutual pal briefed me on who he was.

Cool, I emailed the Steve Lamacq show complaining about the quality of the people who call in to do Good Day Bad Day (one bloke's best gig was The Stereophonics and fave album was probably The Best Of Music he got for Christmas last year), and the producer replied by asking ME to go on. I chickened out because I'd sound like a bell end and I doubt they'd play all 10 minutes of Big City by Spacemen 3.

see, this is why I love 6music:
Hi Al.
Marc will probably answer this on Monday's show but just in case the track we played was "Cherry Red" off the album Split. The Groundhogs have been going since the early sixties but their late 60s early 70s albums are show favourites,. "Thanks Christ for the Bomb" is another we regularly.play tracks from
have a good weekend

Subject: Groundhogs?Hiya Marc,
I know it’s a bit late now but last week you played a record by the Groundhogs that I thought was amazing. It was slightly proggy dirty 70s rock n roll type stuff? That weekend I found a record by the “Mighty Groundhogs” in a second hand record shop who I assume are the same Tony McPhee related bunch but it wasn’t anywhere near as filthy as the record you played. Do you remember what it was? You were bickering with someone who was in for a session who said they didn’t like it? I’d like to track it down and would appreciate any help (or another play).
Cheers,
Al

You should have done it Lamacq is a really nice guy. I used to go to a punk rock Karaoke night he held Upstairs at the Garage. Good Times.

missed their best track there Neu

I reckon their best tunes are on 'Close to the Bone', particularly Pleasure of Love and Measure Up. Those first two LPs are stone cold classics.
