I may be all wrong (being all pissed and that). But did this sell for £200?

That frame is quite frankly... utter filth!

  • Fatbloke, the pictures tell the story.
    Did you feel ripped off?

Are they 650c wheels? Maybe that's why it looks like such a monster?

Is it horrible or nice? so confused I might have another glass of wine, like the white bubbles across the fade mind.

Strangely I am stuck in that same place - hideous or great, hard to tell, at the moment I am leaning towards hideous - I think the novelty frame and bright colours might be fooling me, much a like the edge being taken off a grotesque woman by the liberal application of thick layered make-up and posh clothes.

It might be helpful, to other forum readers, to quote people when the post was so far back. It really didn't make sense with what other people are saying currently!

The bubbles are awesome! But never mind...

What is your budget. Realistically. How much are we looking at for the whole build? Also, it's not going to be immediate! I had a very similar feeling to you and just really wanted a fixed gear.
You have two main options, you can either:

    1. Buy a new track bike such as a Fuji Track, Bianchi Pista or Charge Plug. Priced around £300-£500 if you shop at the right place
      or you can:
    2. Buy an old road bike that has horizontal (don't have to be perfectly horizontal, just in that general direction) and then replace or adapt the rear wheel. You could probably do that for around £100-£150 if you get a couple of good deals.

Feel free to ask any questions about my build. I took option 2. and went even cheaper, but some people will frown on some of the set up options I've made.

  • GF just saw that post and she was really impressed. Oh I try to tell her it's a serious opinion exchanging forum of bike lovers. She thinks funnily enough that coming over a small picture of a bike is rather sad. I am afraid to agree. god speed you through your later searches tonight through E-bay and god save you shrivelled ball sack after writing 'Pista'

I knew I'd get into trouble for that...

  • that look shit.

  • indeed it does... i want a go though

  • What gear ration do you think they run?

I'd say only one per bike

My bad! I did, of course, mean 'what gear **ratio **do you think they run?'
Thanks for the snappy response though.

It's a rip-off of the Sinclair A-bike. I have one of the originals. You don't want a go - it's only marginally better than walking. And whatever you do, don't try to wheelie one in front of your girlfriend.

Theother componets will be second hand and cheap. is it hard to convert verticaldrops to horizontal without getting the ol welder out?

  • I'd say only one per bike

In a word, Yes! Don't get vertical dropouts. There's noting wrong with using a road frame and it might be cheaper to find an old road bike as a full bike than a track specific frame on it's own. As far as the colour goes, you might end up waiting a while for a black one to come up. Wheels are definitely worth getting new. Cheapest deep rim track wheels will be around the £120mark and more if you want nice ones and so on.
I like the sound of it though. Good luck with it all.
