I looked at a pair of 3TTT I got on close out stock at planet X for £12 and they were £35 used!

V-brakes are a bit of a let down on this, would prefer some discs but frame and fork don't look compatible?

I really want to get a tour bike, but g/f is saying no...

v-brakes are great - many stopping power w/ decent pads. And surprising good in the rain on rough decents fully loaded.

Yeah, I have no problem with V brakes. Easy to set up and service and very decent stopping power. I think your girlfriend saying 'no' could be a bigger issue.
