Thats a bloody big dent, even if it was still usable, who in there right mind would pay a grand for a frame with a massive dent in it

Those Cannondale frames seems to be really popular nowadays.. Where did that come from?
-
• #54506
Perhaps that Cannondale seat tube dent could be reduced by just forcing in a really long seat post?
-

Sounds like a way to make two problems out of one, unless you had an array of posts with 0.1mm increments (or at least a small but regular intervals), to tap it out. Probably better if the posts were spiked like insertion pins.... and after all that effort a framebuilder will probably write it off.

America in the 90s.
A grand which includes a fuck off dent, non original fork and no headset or BB.... Bet it still gets sold though.

It's Alu as well isn't it?
A dent like that in an alu seat tube... the integrity of the frame is compromised, try and force it out and you further weaken it.
Its a lot of money for what after one bump could be a pretty effective castration -

Ariake Jaguar NJS apparently. Koga Miyata stamped.

Anything that involves pushing something along the tube risks deforming the tube more above the dent. The ideal would be something that you insert so it sits against the good side then wind a handle to move a part towards the inside of the dent. Dunno if this exists.
Once the dent is gone, bond a carbon fibre tube to the inside of the frame to support the weakened area...
Or don't bother, just use the dented frame as modern art. Nothing that special about them, as bike frames go.

Ah yes of course, aluminium is not going to like that sort of treatment, and will result in all the faff/pointlessness that you guys mention.
I heard about getting bumps out of steel tubes by pulling/driving a large ball bearing through them... which is a fun thought but would obviously be a PITA/impossibru.

I've had old steel frames repaired before by having the area heated, then a steel bar pushed through the tube. Albeit I've only had this done on seat tubes which are easily accessible

Hi all,
I think before you call me a liar I need to state my side of the story.
It's true I made the mistake of not selling this frame to MCamb. This was a mistake that I take responsibility for and I apologised, I also cleared up any other mistakes I had made and tried my best to put them right!
I'm thinning out a collection that I purchased a while ago, I didn't have space in my lockup for it all so some of it had to go in separate storage facilities. I made a simple mistake of thinking I had sold this frame. Place a couple of real-life human factors such as moving to a different facility, not being able to see what I had there and then (everything was wrapped up) you can soon see how easy it is to loose track.
I'd like the be completely transparent about all of this, so if you require anymore information from me, feel free to PM and I can hand out my personal mobile number.
James

So it definitely isn't because it went for less than you thought on eBay and you got greedy and made up a story so that you could try and sell it on at a later date for more money? Just to clarify.

Or because now you run a paint business and it would make you look stupid in front of potential customers. This has been going on for quite a long time by now. Lol.

I got the popcorn out...

Would have thought a business that originally started selling on second hand bike parts would have some sort of record of what has and hadn't been sold...
-
• #54520
Man he told you it got misplaced between storages...

@JamesNQ I think of the several people on this forum who have had the misfortune of dealing with your eBay (separate??) business, I am one of the lucky ones. I recieved an instant refund, rather than being messed about. I'm not expecting a frame or any sort of compensation from you, it just pissed me off to see the very same frame up on eBay again.
Your previous excuse was perfectly passive enough to get you off the hook. This one feels like much of the same. You are running a business, and using a community based forum as a platform to promote yourself and act surprised when being dishonest elsewhere bites you on the bum.
In the first place, a straight up, 'I'm not selling you this for a tenner, I'm sorry' would of sufficed
