^^^ Tasty bike, Nasty price. At least the colour means I can resist it. If it was red and yellow saeco colours I might have been in trouble.

Correct me if I'm wrong but the red and yellow (awful) Saeco colours were only on the Cannondale Track CAAD5?

I don't know. Looking at the catalogues red and yellow seem to be coming in by the early mid nineties culminating in the glories of 97 and 98 when they went mad. I have seen a couple of CAD2 and 3 red yellow saeco track frames but they may well have been a bit later than the one you referenced. At least we won't ever be bidding against each other for the same frame!

^What was the reasoning on having the pedal threads so big?
-
• #49921
they only have inner bearings,no axle shaft through the pedal,so the bearings are bigger and inboard.

^What was the reasoning on having the pedal threads so big?
" The Shimano 600 AX groupset was the second line of shimano's Aerodynamic set of groups comprised if the Dura-Ace AX, 600 AX, and Adamas AX groups. Every part of the AX groups were designed to be as aerodynamic as possible, as evident by the brakes, seatposts and almost every other part in the group. The AX groups also used shimano's 1" diameter axle Dyna-Drive pedal system.."
&
"Dyna Drive – a pedal system with no pedal axle and with the bearings located in the part of the pedal which screws into the crank. This required an oversized hole in the crank 25mm (1" diameter) to accept the Dyna Drive pedals. The theory behind this was to allow the foot to be lower than the pedal axle for better biomechanics. This system was relatively short lived, one reason being that the pedal bearings wore out quickly. However, they were used by Alexi Grewal (USA) in his gold medal winning ride in the 1984 Olympic cycling road race in Los Angeles."
