If I was in Ireland I'd go for it.

Seat posts are easy to get out, because the paint's already tatty I'd go the route of:
1. Soaking in Coke for a bit and trying to twist/pull out.
If that doesn't work:
1. Caustic Soda and melt the fucker out.
I've used 2 on a couple of frames and as well as working, it's deeply satisfying and you feel like some kind of mad scientist.
