Your Coppi was welded....
Kleins are very different; after welding they are heated...
My Coppi K12 was, in fact, also heat treated after welding. Fatigue cracks are a problem with all applications of aluminium alloys, be it on bicycles or jumbo jets. Joints will still be the areas of highest stress (i.e. "weakest"), heat treated or not. The only way to avoid the threat is to avoid aluminium, or to build the frame so sturdily that the rider rarely/never subjects it to load cycles deep enough to count towards the ~10,000 allowable cycles before failure.
Still, if no Kleins have exhibited this form of failure then I'll accept that the proof is in the pudding, and look out for Kleins my size in future! Best of luck with your remaining 8 minutes of bidding, I look forward to seeing it built up.

I was so tempted, even had a snipe set up, but then realised I didn't need it/have any bits to go on it.
Congratulations on your purchase, whoever you are. -

I'm very glad I got outbid to be honest. I really don't need to buy things I don't need just because they're pretty.

I had one of those '91 'dales with that green spatter paint, but in a larger size. It was great. It got crushed when a digger reversed over it, driver didn't have a mirror and didn't look. I loved the bike but it gives me chills to remember nearly getting killed on it.

I shall top referring to colnago masters as tacky airbrush flames and start calling them arabesque
