Another win for Putney Cycles then.
WAC.
Nah not Putney Cycles, they scratched a headset of mine a couple of years ago. I'm collecting vendettas against local bike shops!

Missed out on a 60cm Rock Lobster CX frame.
Was going for it on a whim and didn't want to bid more than 80, sold for 89 - anyone on here?
-
• #43591
i would have bid more ... didn't see it unfortunately :/

It was an alloy one but still an un-doubted bargain.

For all you wood lovers out there, the future of bars....
-
• #43595
^^ caused some debate a while back. saftey, sustainability, woodworm etc...
-
• #43596
I'm a carpenter and I wouldn't trust those.
Maybe if they were riven (so the grain follows exactly the shape of the bars) from a straight grained piece of hickory, hemlock or ash. But even then, why? -
• #43597
Not sure if anyone found this yet?
I've never seen one of those before.
Does that make any engineering sense?
Why would having spokes running straight (although I'm guessing tangentially to the axis) strengthen a hub?
Is it a case of two flanges strong three flanges stronger?
Also Cnc'd hubs are not as strong as forged and machined ones.
(So trot on boutique hubs)Interesting curio though.

Oh I get it
http://prollyisnotprobably.com/2009/08/godscogs-iso-hubs/It looks cool.

^ Thanks for that: reading the ad I thought you used the centre and one of the outer flanges, depending on how you were lacing it...
-
• #43600
I wondering how you'd lace them, I'd love to see how long one lasted under serious stress though.
Wouldn't go more than £200 posted - decent enough but depending on what they mean by "no significant issues"
should definately get some a nicer build on classifieds for <200
Also i'd wager that the frame will still rust under their clearcoat
