Lotus Elise are around 800kg, my Volvo estate is around 1,500.
Cars are getting heavier and heavier though, with all the insulation and equipment in them, plus they are getting bigger and bigger as well.
Next major area for development will be composite materials in volume cars- if the car weighs have as much it needs half the power, and uses half the fuel.
In theory, at least.
