The Merckx seller is willing to split and let the frame go for about £750

Too small for me and collection only but looks like this might be a steal.
Why do people have auctions for bikes ending on nice Sunday afternoons when people likely to be buying them may be out cycling??
Having said that, I'm in aren't I?

This cunt knows the bike is stolen... if you buy this bike knowing it's stolen, you too are a cunt!
Sellers reply to my question:
*'Yes, I bought it on a car boot sale. Why do you think it's stolen?

Coppithat saw the bike for sale in a market somewhere... he has pics -
Someone else has seen a poster with the bike as stolen.
I also saw this bike on a stolen bikes poster at "Balfes Bikes" near Oval..
I am not in London, so I am a bit limited, if someone could try and get a number for the owner etc..!!
I've bought it fair and honest. If you have a problem go to the police and report it. I went there this morning and was told that there is no record of this bike (based on the serial no.)to be a stolen one.

Fair enough really. Even if it is stolen, its up to the owner to deal with this.

Maybe it's worth contacting one of the shops where the stolen posters are, and asking for the number that's on it. If the guy whose bike it was hasn't seen this page or the Ebay advert it would be the best way of letting him know.

He's been informed... The seller is a lying fuck anyway... Hope he/she gets caught out.
is this personal?
because it looks like. -

'Fair enough really' is not a good attitude TBH.
Didn't someone here say the wheels or some parts were not the same? So without having the original photo to see or the owner, you cannot be sure it is the same bike. So you are pissing on somebodies sale which may be totally legit.
I have bought bike bits from jumble sales for next to nothing. Often parents selling of their kids stuff that was in their garage etc. You cannot assume it was stolen because it was bought cheaply at a boot sale.

is this personal?
because it looks like.I could not disagree more strongly. There is overwhelming evidence that this is a stolen bike and, unlike most, Pistoffski is trying to do something about it. What is wrong with that?
Also, the seller must be desperate or stupid or both, because selling a frame you know to be stolen is hardly worth the risk for a couple of hundred pounds profit.

overwhelming evidence? you are taking a piss.
so far (for me) it's a word of a guy I don't know for a word of another guy. my impression is also that the bike is likely to be stolen, but Id rather want to find a solid proof first, and after that call somebody a cunt/lying fuck/etc.
surely track crew of London can help to identify..but maybe, just maybe, the seller bought the bike in a car boot sale, checked it with police and after receiving green light simply listed it on eBay, not knowing too much about specs, but feeling it's a bargain?
just a scenario, which according to some of you is not possible.anyway, maybe we will never find out.
