It's knackered. Avoid it.

'Vitus 992 frame was previously selling as a whole bike but due to being informed that the bike looks like its had a front smash decided to sell frame by its self. any questions please get in contact.'
'Vitus 992 bike forks, couple of little scratches on one side, any questions please get on contact.'
I am speechless. He has been told about his frame and he is now selling a safety critical component like the forks with a 'couple of little scratches on one side', when they need to be skipped. We all know there is unscrupulous scum out there prepared to offload their tat on unsuspecting buyers, but this guy is the crème de la crème.
Bless him, he obviously doesn't have a clue. His listings are all over the place and he blatantly didn't have the tools to disassemble the bike properly. If you're after the cranks it might be worth your time bidding on the frame.
Maybe hes just a really old guy?

Maybe he's mental.
-
• #38080
nah I think he's probably just not clued up on the subject, a bit aged, and proud?
To 99.95% of the UK population, a bike is a bike if it has two wheels. Doesn't require any more info than that does it, surely?
;)

why'd he try with the whole 'customised for rider' schpiel then? that's what makes me think he's spouting hot air out his shite pipe.
-
• #38082
Next he'll try to sell it as a frame with compact geometry because "he saw some others on google that had a sloping top tube".
Tit.

need to see more I think...
I kept asking where it was built, how old it was and he/she wouldn't answer. No paperwork/bill of sale (so hardly pride and joy) Said he couldn't email photos as couldn't fathom out how to attach to email (despite my instruction) but managed it on ebay.
Wouldn't/couldn't say if it was Italian threaded BB or if the headset was 1" (The forks seem to say it is.
For what it sold it might be an absolute bargain for someone but not worth the aggro for some pee poor knock off or some back yard builder who aint got a clue how to weld ti tubes properly. -

Pity, could well of been a beauty... Perhaps it not only got dark when he tried to take the pictures but also got dark when he tried to remember things...

Well, considering the fact that these headsets are pretty unique and race, it could be a good purchase.
But a few hundreds of GBP is quite a lot for a headset.
Some people would pay the starting price. -

I wonder where are those two sets of wheels from his first add?
Also I really like the stem with a bonus...classic. Might actually bid on this one...
No, on the second thought I don't want my money in this guy's pocket.

Thing is, I could easily see myself missing the bent frame due to seeing a decent price and glossing over it :(
