  • yeah who's lost a condor recently?

They did know the spoke brand mind...

  • its the rims they're referring to i think

  • oh yeah, I forget they do rims.

  • A very, very high price:
    deep breaths now lads

Oh and Winston did you win this?
    link

Because it takes 26 inch tubulars like these ones:
    link

And another Holdsworth, just for good measure.
Luckily it is way, way, way too big for me, but still showing the original decals:
    ubernice

  • knew it.
it takes tubs. see above for the right size and everything.

  • yeah, were you watching?....have found the tubs requird on Continental German site, and they are also listed on Contis UK site as wheelchair tubs!....think I'll get some more modern wheels made up for general playing around on tarmac and grass and keep the wooden ones as a restoration project......a change of bars will make an excellent polo bike too....

  • I put a bid on it, but then went to bed. Got up this morning and saw who had won and guessed who it was.
Was looking at it as a polo bike too. A very good buy I think.

  • my max bid was 420...and I used esnipe

I used to work for a circus and have wanted one of these ever since (even though my tricks are crap) will use for intended purpose with polo as secondary option......I've never seen one on sale in UK before (though heard about another one on ebay a while ago) so well chuffed.

The specialist conti tubs are 25 quid and for indoor use...think those 19mm might be a bit fragile for messing about in the street.

  • I would've thought the indoor ones would be trouble on the roads, but the podiums are outdoor race tubs, pretty strong stuff.
If I'd've won, I'd have done the same though, polo wheels and special day wheels.

  • roberto had one for sale about a year ago ;) , could even be the same bike. good work winston.

eyebrows, great to see that white holdsworth and show how well mine was to the period ;)

  • did you see the 1970's frames price?

  • no comment :p

btw, how did the ride home go? all sweet?

  • perfectly, thanks, beamed all the way.
    literally.

  • Very nice Kiyo Miyazawa frame.

  • ^ my prediction - $866. Bandwidth stealing AHOY:

EDIT - Prediction revised to $1000+ as it's Springtime and red is faster.

You should have stuck with your original estimate - anyway it went for $905 I think so the beers are on me.

  • ^ $937.89 actually!
Theres a lot of love for Merckx frames, (especially this one - perhaps due to oval tubing?)
I think we have established that even tall people will pay $$$s
    I won a beer! - That was fun.. :-)

  • Henry did you buy the holdsworth?????

    Strokes chin like monsier homes!

  • Toby, think you owe me a beer tonight mate! ;-)

  • holy cow, a repalcement saddle for my new artistic bike could cost me E220!!

check this interesting site out though, loads of interesting stuff:

  • 220 EURO! WOuld a bit of spit and polish just clean up the one on the bike? It does not look too bad from the photo.

  • I'm sure it's fine I was just looking....mostly to see if I got a good deal and generally trying to find a parts supply if necessary.....that price shocked me!

  • Track frame going cheap, poor photos.

I had a bid on this frame - even though it was too big for me - with the intention of selling it on at a later date. You think TV has no effect on you, but all those episodes of The Apprentice can change a person.

It went for £111 in the end; I stopped at 70 quid, when the likelihood of making a profit seemed to be disappearing. Still, it was a nice buy for the winning bidder - if they intend to keep it for themself.

The seller ought to be birched for giving money away. I'm sure it would have sold for more with clear photos and a better description. Did anyone else have a go? Crank? Kelvin?

  • The prices on everything there is shocking, the frames and bikes are all shocking
