  • Probably thought you were taking the piss.

  • OT so apologies but am having a brain failure.

This has to be too good to be true surely? What am I missing?

10,000 sold, and 42 feedback WTF

"smells a rotted rat sniff sniff"

  • This. A fixed wheel hub adapter that you screw onto a road hub and is double threaded for a cog and lockring. So you lock the lockring to an adapter that isn't, er, 'locked' itself? Am I missing something or is this as stupid as it seems?

If you were bothered about that you would just get a new hub or wheel. This product is just a compromise for people who want to use some spedicic old wheel, perhaps a disc or trispoke for track without sourcing rare replacement hub that doesnt exist or redishing it (impossible).

The adapter also has a larger contact area than a cog on its own, plus it can be superglued in place permanently.

    Is this guy shill bidding?

p***3 is currently bidding on items from six other sellers, so I'd guess the answer is no.

  • That said, seller regularly buys bike parts, which they could also carry on doing using a shill account.

  • It looks odd to me. 15 bids from p***3 with 0 feedback. Outbiding own bids when no one else is biding.

  • Press show automatic bids at the top right - they aren't outbidding their own bids

  • ok, so not outbidding it's own. Still looks odd to me.

  • the person is placing bids in small increments hence the high number of bids shown but them never being the highest bidder.

    sorry if i missed something.

i whould have found that useful on my old 27inch wheels from my first build.

  • I forgot about this bike. ended at £75. oh well. more will come up.

  • I can understand it for a single-speed freewheel, but threaded for a fixed cog?

Yeah a weird one. At first I thought, ah ha, its like some kind of adapter to put a screw on cog onto a cassette hub, but then, where the logic in that, other than it makes a larger contact patch with the freehub.
Then I thought, maybe its for screw on hubs, but he's invented an amazing way of attaching it so that screw on cogs can be used, but no. All it does is just provide a chainline re-space? Guess its useful to about 15people maybe.

  • That Cougar thing's weird.

  • My mum had a foldable "racing" bike with a seat/frame setup like that. Imagine a $3500 Brompton made out of carbon fibre and dura-ace... she liked it, anyhow. (...and yes, I agree... it is weird.)

  • If anyone spots a 53-54 cm tourer suitable for a 900 mile ride gimme a heads up please! Have been looking myself but work outdoors all day and the regulars of this thread always seem to spot stuff I miss...

Got a Raliegh Pioneer going cheap but in proper good nick, let me know if interested it would make a great tourer i think, got canti brakes and comfy riding position. Just need it out of the way got too many bikes at the moment, i'm in Bristol but can courier to you no probs.

  • TT's too long, sorry. Thanks though!
