nnnngh i really really want and you could have the mech too but I need at least a 55. I have such a hard on for high end early 90s british frames. and its black white and red too... do you think I could have a vertebra removed and be an inch shorter?

Honestly are people stupid? Or is there an incredibly compelling reason this beater is going for 200 sheets? He hasnt even specified a brand of any of the components, bar the fact it was a raleigh frame. Yet he neglects to mention any tubing specs either. Might throw a few of my beaters on there.
-
• #33158
the people bidding for that aren't going to know anything about the components anyways; it's purely a question of aesthetics, i'd say.
-
• #33159
Aesthetics? I could crawl through those clearances, but fair play I guess.

sounds like a good plan but I think the sante rear mech would clash with the rest of the outfit so you would have to sell it to me :)

So all the parts are new but he's ridden it for four years without changing anything other than tyres or pads?

Will find out - just emailed him via ebay to find out
"Hi,
Can you just clarify. Are all the parts brand new or were the parts new 4 years ago when you first built it?
Thanks
Phil" -
• #33164
So not new at all - bad listing!
"Hi Phil,
Yes the parts were new 4 years ago. Apart from the bike ride to Brighton and Southend i have only used it during the summer to ride to work and thats a total of 12 miles a day. The only thing i didn't state in the auction was that it hasn't been used that much over the last 12 months as i ride my Bianchi all the time.
Let me know if you have any other questions
Kind Regards"

Also note how he didn't publish your question at the bottom of the ad! I' going to sell some beaters on the bay i think!
-
• #33166
"Thanks for clarifying, without being rude I do think your listing is misleading as nothing on the bike is new and has had quite a large amount of use. You might want to edit that as items that have a thousand miles on them really don't qualify for "New"
Phil"

he can't have been commuting very far if he only did 250 miles a year
-
• #33168
according to his commute distance, even if he only used the thing for 5 months a year that's nearly 2000 miles. NOS. BNIB.
-
• #33169
^ Haha that thing must be well worn. Parts were probably junk to begin with too. BNWT indeed.

"Alan, Alan, Alan....., Oh no it's Mike, ....... Mike Mike" <- that's my Meercat impression ;-))
