Sold for £190.
I picked up one of these back in Sept for the same price fully built up with Shimano 600. Gorgeous bike. The photos in that ad do not do the colours full justice.
I have a Basso 'Loto' in the same colours and the paint job is just superb. In the late eighties the 'Loto' built from SLX was the top of the Basso range. It looks to me like an identical frame although it does not have the distinctive 'Loto' logo. The price of £230 I thought was fair particularly with the unusual chromed front lugs, so the sale price of £190 was a bit of a bargain. Certainly a lot of frame for the money.
Apparently Basso's are renowned for awesome paint finishes, because they have invested heavily in the finishing side of the business and have built an excellent reputation for that. This is in addition to building great frames too.

Is there an obvious way of making sure a basso frame is genuine? I'm looking at getting a second hand basso that I have found for sale to start a project, the frame geometry looks very much like similar basso steel frames I can find images of, but is there a way of checking when I go to see it? Thanks. No problem if not, I'll probably still go for it as it's near enough to collect.

Lamj, most Bassos will have the name pantographed into the top of the rear stays and often have their own brand stamped into the dropouts as well. Mine also has 3 small lines cut into the underside of the bb shell that looks kinda like the Adidas stripes.
If it doesn't have any Basso markings at all then it's either at the bottom end of their range or perhaps not actally a Basso.

Didn't mean to imply this frame wasn't worth much. On the contrary they are a high quality bike. Just bragging how lucky I was.
Mine is identical to this one. It's a Fior Di Loto model, SLX tubing.

Absolutely, they are a high quality frames. I did not take it that you were implying otherwise, as I was just reiterating what nice bikes they are.
I think 'Fior di Loto' is Italian for Lotus flower. Perhaps an Italian member could confirm this to be true.

The two Basso's I have both have the Basso hexagonal emblem to the fork crown, the rear brake bridge and on the seat post cluster, with either the hexagonal emblem to the lug or 'Basso' to the top end of the seat stays. The one is top end and the other I would consider to be mid range for a Basso, but still good quality. So it would appear that they liked their frames to be readily identifiable.
Hope this helps
