You have to sit and watch it count down to zero, when it gets to 8 seconds click to enter new bid, whether you're winning or not. Remember you have to click again on a new screen to confirm this. If you want it, put a feeler bid out earlier to see what the other bid is like, you can find out how high the other person has bid already. When it comes to your final bid, think about what you're willing to pay then add £2.55 or something onto it, stops you being pipped by pennies. It will only bid the minimum ammount you need to win the item anyway.

or, just bid early what you think you can afford/ want to pay, and then, who gives a fuck if it goes over budget, just leave it.
last minute bidding is an idiot's game. -
• #27380
Why do you think it's an idiot's game, Hen?
-
• #27381
because-
- you may lose out on something by bidding too little, too late
- (more likely) you may end up bidding too much.
either way- you're just as likely to get a bargain if you bid early- as the way ebay works means that bids up to your max amount will be entered automatically.
and less likely to be pissed with a loss.
each to their own, but last minute bidding tends to, in my experience and from the number of posts on here, lead to heartache.

last minute bidding is an idiot's game. That is ridiculous. Bidding early just drives up the price for everyone else.
Peoples last minute bidding will then outbid your bid by a quid or so.
-
• #27383
well, each to their own.
I'll continue to win my items under a set budget, and you can continue to lose yours. -
• #27384
Ah i just speak of my experiences so yes each to their own. I'm not sure if you understood my earier post on bidding just over what you want to pay.
i will keep winning items under budget also.

No, people don't go continually bidding in increments of £1. If you bid £100 and someone else bids £150, they'll win automatically win it for £101 when the auction ends. (although I think the margin increases with the item value.)

it does pifko, precisely.
realistically, the best way of winning at a low price is automated sniping, with your max amount stated to the snipe device, but I don't trust the software, so I choose to use bid early and wait.
Also, because waiting for auctions can go fuck itself, dull as shit.Malaysian, I completely understand you're rather overused point of bidding a set amount on top of a bid.
I myself tend to bid like so:
take my top end amount- say £75 then add random numbers to the end- usually, because I like order, a palindrome:
£76.67 for example would be my bid. -
• #27388
palindrome - like that word.
Ok, I used to bid early but was always out bid in closing minutes by a small ammount. Which is why now where possible I bid last minute. And mostly win. It works for me is all.

• #27389
yep im a late bidder as well....sometimes you have to work for an item you really want......
-
• #27390
well that's it, just got some bike boots for just over half price, had a low bid riding was out bid with 20 secs to go, put in what I wanted to pay and got for a tenner less. winner winner.

600 odd notes doesnt sound that cheap..!
-
• #27392
if you really wanted it, it would not have sold for eleven pounds with somebody else being the winner.
I came in the door, i said it before
I never let the mic magnatize me no more
But it's biting me, fighting me, inviting me to rhyme
I can't hold it back, I'm looking for the line,
Taking off my coat, clearing my throat
My rhyme will be kicking it until I hit my last note
My mind'll range to find all kinds of ideas
Self-esteem makes it seem like a thought took years to build
But still say a rhyme after the next one
Prepared, never scared, I'll just bless one
And you know that I'm the soloist
So Eric B, make 'em clap to this -

I didn't get the bike.....by the time I checked the auction was over. missed putting in last minute bid by 5mins.....I dreamt about the bike....it was harrowing.

chaps - why not use ezsniper? It will do automated bid for you up to around 4 secs from the auction end, also by putting in a max amount you don't get seduced by that auction fever into paying more than it's worth. And others do not know you are bidding...oh the joy of a last sec win!!

• #27395
coppiThat you funny person deleting your post ahaha :))

The only possible reason not to do this is if you're buying a expensive item and the % fee will be high.
Otherwise this is the best solution. Plus I think it is actually the most fair.
