  • LOOK KG 221
Just saw this on bikeshd and followed the link through. curses to being a few hours late, looks like an absolute bargain and is so local to me that if i'd seen it in time i'd be holding it right now. Hope it went to someone on here.

  • I have followed this guy's guide a few times with really nice results.

How do you polish them so they're that shiny? I've got some stradas that i would like to pimp up - answered my own question, for anyone wondering how

    i saw that

    so i bought it,

picking it up tomorrow unless anything bad happens, bit of a clean up and it shoudl be a nice little bike,

  • Nice one, that frame looks really nice and if that is a brooks you could sell it for as much as you bought the bike for.

  • that was my thinking, worst come to worse and its not right i can clean it and put it on the bay or similer and make money from it

the frame is my size so i'll give it a ride, the duel 5 speed / single speed thing it has going on means i'll only need one bike (as if you only ever need one bike!)

  • Ha! And another NOS Cilo Swiss frame - 1987 Columbus SLX frame this time. My size but $975 US is a bit out of my price range.

  • Worst comes to worst you go all the way down there and he's sold it to someone else - thats my experience of that chap.

  • where does he get all these mint condition bikes. I've been lusting after his auctions for a few years now but I could never afford his prices. you could have a bike porn thread just with his bike.

If you do find that it isnt quite right for you or something i'd love the frame and forks :) PM me if you're thinking of selling it.
    Cheers, George

  • Why frame and fork when everything's original on it?

  • Because i only really need the frame and forks, although yes it would be better i suppose to not split it up.
Actually yes, if you dont want it i will have the whole bike

  • carlton flyer

i arranged with the seller to collect it and pay cash 11 july 2010 between one and two, no quibble on the price. just cycling back from a nice night out and recieve a message from the seller saying "its sold"

i had the chance of collecting it tonight.............. there's a moral in there somewhere.

each time i look at those rear ends i shake my head and say why didnt i collect it tonight.

    :-(

  • You and me both mate.

  • these were going to be things i did tomorrow.

    1. endure a miserable but calm train journey
    2. collect the carlton
    3. post on the thread and send sumo a pm saying that i owed him a big drink
    4. speak to jd and ask him what he had in my size for a swop

this is something that has occupied bits of my thoughts throughout this evening

i called the seller in disgust (i might add) and he said that "somebody came knocking at his door at midnight and he sold it to them"

i was sleepy when i found out about it and was tipsy when i realised it had slipped through my fingers so in a way it feels like a dream.

life goes on and there is another one in a shed somewhere..............come on sumo, FIND IT!

  • haha Ill keep my eyes out. Absolutely gutted for you, there's more fish in the sea though.

  • Whenever I closely miss out on a bike or item I thought I really wanted a much, much better deal usually pops up a few weeks later.

Consider this experience a good sign.

  • it was the path racer version of this \/

share my pain; chrome with the same coloured bands on the seat and head tube, i am sure i could just see the reynolds sticker :-(

  • Jb,

It's been re-listed at least twice now....think it went up to somewhere around £350.00 last time...gorgeous frame..I have one almost identical...but needing resto...the paintwork on the listed La Quelda is superb and very expensive, in particluar box lining etc...but not sure you ever get close to your money back?

So thats why you were calling me a silly o'clock.

  • I arranged to buy a bike off that seller - when I got there he'd sold it to someone else. Its first come first served with him.

well i'm not getting the bike either now, i was going to pick it up today took the day off work and everything

got a text at midnight to say someone came and got it, he's an utter cunt,

i replied to his text that first come is for who call's first not who gets there first and he's been a wanker, i'd even bought a bike off him before. he said ''he said i'd rather not deal with you again if you swear for no reason'' my reply was that this is the perfect excuse to swear at him.

    what a cunt,

i reckon someone offered him more, though he said he had other racers as well, but that's not the point really, seeing as he lives in the middle of nowhere, i'd like to know where he get's these bikes
