  • Theres an abundance of nice pug frames in belgium and holland, reckon im gonna make a trip over there in easter, pick up a few bikes, and got a couple possible interviews lined up for a zine im starting. but that is a nice bike

  • I beg to differ. Carbolite, HLE Peugeots are nothing special just a little above Hi-Ten (debatable) but with impossible to find seatpost sizes and obscure french threads. £90 is way too much I'd much rather buy something decent from here for less. The parts? They're shit. After all the bike probably only cost about the asking price when it was new.

Do yourself a favour and at least buy something made from reynolds quality tubing!

your probs right i just liked the paint work, i didnt mean to imply it was rare (i dont know enough to say that), and i just half wondered if it was a good peugeot like festina ones with a flukey few good parts. Twas a silly passing thought.

yes my housemate has had trouble with finding seatposts for similar bike.

are you a reynolds devotee? i couldnt tell the difference between reynolds and columbus, (i realise that P isnt columbus just asking aside) would you say reynolds is better?

  • i may be about to make the stupidest post i have thus far; but im just gonna put out there that mericans are the bmw's of bikes.

bit swish look at me (never go cheap) (for posers)

I dont know what this makes colnago, pinarello, tommassini

    id say colnago = porsche/ pinreallo = ferrari/ tommasini = bugatti

i think peugeot are the perfect cars, your not boring in one (volvo), you not too efficient (vw/audi), you not quirky (citroen), standard (ford) etc etc.

i vote Peugeot! but what bike is a peugeot? is it a peugeot bike?

(id say no they're more of a vauxhall/ford when compared to cars)

this is ridiculous i should stop

my mind says not to post this, but it will probs be ignored anyway, and would enjoy debate if not.

    wish there was more chat about/conversions of;

    BH/KUOTA/TREK/TIME/CERVELO/LOOK/ORBEA/LAPIERRE/FELT/WIELLER/CANNONDALE/CANYONKOGA/SCOTT/RIDLEY/FOCUS ETC

we only ever see the same old makes posted on ebay here, wonder if the fashion will move away from older bikes in new year?

mercian stand more for well built classic with history and a proven track record i would have thought. i dont think saving up and buying something that is well made is swish or flash. owning somethng that is worth repairing is something to be admired. just my thoughts.

    sorry if i missed something.

  • bugger i deleted that post and thought id got away with it

twas a stupid thought, i take it back. i just had a second of looking at the squiggly paint work and lettering and thinking yuck.

    I am wrong and silly.

  • Spooky my post was not aimed at you, sorry for leaving your name in the quote and don't let anybody tell you what you can and can't like but I stand by my opinion that cheap peugeots are worth only what other cheap bikes are worth, they are nothing special and not worth paying out for.

And no not a Reynolds advocate, Columbus and others are just as good. I was just making the point that for £90 you could easily get a nice 531 or equivalent.

Anyway time to spread some Christmas Joy....

    Merry Xmas everyone!

(Oh and I enjoyed your stupidest post, I'm glad it was quoted to be captured forever :) )

    going to chim in.

all of the aboard is right, apart from the BB thread, Peugeot sometime do have English BB.

and while Carbolite HLE are cheap steel, it's reasonably light for a standard gauge tubing.
