is there any good tricks or advice to tell their reliability?

ask the a technical question about the bike that a cyclist would know the answer to but a street urchin would have no idea about.

eg. "hello the forks look like they might be columbus 531 tubing, are they?"

ask if it an be viewed before the end of the auction, you dont have to carry money and you can then gauge if they are genuine or not.

far too many whys to not set alarm bells ringing. i might well be legitimate but it doesn't seem it sadly. even if seller says you can collect it , it still seems a bit dodgy.

Only speaking for myself but £500 is a lot right now. Think you did get a bargain, it's lovely.

i haven't heard anything from the track tandem bloke.

I always think it's worth waiting a few days, they could be away or be having internet connection troubles. I'm in a similar boat, bought something yesterday via a snipe, emailed the seller last night to discuss collecting the frame and have heard nothing back. I'm calm. For now.
