strange about the painting malarkey though.......

You must repaint it. The steel are good!! But the paint is bad.. You must repaint it all.. No rust ..
Made me laugh, reckon if you bought it and told him you weren't gonna re-paint he would refuse to post it?

£55! Result
Indeed!
I quite want that if you can't think of anything to do with it.
Me too!
Me first ;)
Fuck. Good to know.
Marcus wants it alot too (according to the 10 txts I got from him today!)Sell it on for a profit me thinks....
Nah.
I'll wait see what to do untill it arrives. Considering a 7 speed racer, but for a proper road frame I should get a 58 really. So It might just become the sassy and sophisticated gents town bike (fixed) that I've been dreaming off. Infact. That sounds like an excellent idea. N+1 after all...

MERCKX TRACK BIKE, 57cm, GENT - BELGIUM
I let it go.
But I contacted the seller, know how much he wants for it.
It's certainly not too expensive (although people are bidding against each other and increase the price), but Gent is still too far away for me, the frame a littlebit too small and too short, it needs a respray and I don't want to spend the money at the moment.Hilary, can I please buy the crank set from you in case you win the auction?
....
merckx trackbike, full campy
i seen these bikes sold from Gent for between 250,- and 400,- euro
its 56, not my size and i have too many bikes anyway -

You might have a hard time. My bid of £350 didn't last an hour before the previous bidder was back on top. This will defo fetch a pretty penny or 700.

Q: is there a problem with the decals on the lower tube? it looks like there are incomplete? have they been glued on or painted? very nice bike indeed.
A: i would not call it a problem...it adds to her vintage quality...it is a 1984 frame...the decals are pealed out...by the velodrome windlovin the nag seller's gift of the gab

The seller bought it like that for over 1000USD. Keirin blogspot. If you search pink nag in google you'll find the original blog entry for the frame, and its in the same condition. Lovely frame.

with that sizing, it's a lots easier, I have a 'town' bike that's a little too small for me (55cm, I required a 57cm), but if set up properly, it's perfectly comfortable with moustache bar, short but tall stem, big saddle and layback seatpost.

yeah, but then you put it up on here and the price correspondingly went silly.. I watched it happen. it's one thing highlighting bikes and frames from searches everyone's doing but some things surely are better left for those who are putting in the time searching meticulously and patiently. it's quite obvious that casual lookers have now thrown in their daft money on this, it would have gone for a lot less before your post than it will now do.
this thread is a fuckin' double-edged sword, it really is... oh well..
(I guess you can tell from this that I was on this and getting ready for the postman.)

A catch 22 isn't it?
perhaps mark this topic as private? or a £1 donation just to enter this topic?

Oddly sized that one^^ Woulda had it if it had a shorter tope tube. 57cm is hardly small.

Sorry mate I had no idea... yeah i know what you are saying. I guess this thread were more of a closed community these kind of potential bargains would work but cos there are so many people looking at this thread it messes it up.. I guess when i come across stuff that i think will go for little because of bad listing, no key words in title, listed in wrong category etc but i don't personally want it i feel like passing it on to someone here.. but then as you say that kind of defeats the point as the price goes up.. maybe BINs are the only thing to put up.
Also some things manage to get a fairly decent price some how anyway eg the ksyrium that was listed as a ksyzium in vintage parts as a mudguard still got £67 (not as much as it could, but not terrible)

I for one am happy with the way people highlight that kind of stuff.. It may raise the price of certain things but you can still get bargains.
