favourite inappropriate use of "fixie" in an ebay listing so far this week:
and I quote:
This auction is for a Peugeot racer that i bought 6 months ago. It was the start of a fixie project, but i since got a good deal on a complete off a mate. All you would need to do is buy a rear fixed wheel and a frame with horizontal drop outs and you would have an awesome machine."
If I'm not mistaken the seller is telling us all you need to buy is this old racer with vert. dropouts, and another frame with horizontal dropouts...
great starter fixie project then! (oh and he's clearly not keen on magic gear either...)

Ebay question forum spamming raid?

The plot thickens, go for it:
Q: Hello, I have a question on what's on offer here and sorry if this sounds retarded. Does this bike come as seen in the photographs and does it have horizontal drop outs ? I'm considering it as a fixed wheel project... Eventually. Essentially I'm a bit confused by this wording in the listing "All you would need is a rear fixed wheel and a frame with horizontal drop outs and you would have an awesome machine." Thanks for your time, sorry if this sounds ignorant. Gareth. 23-Jul-09
A: hahahah. No worries buddy. This frame has horizontal dropouts so wouldn't work as a fixie. I just meant it would be a good building base. Yes the bike comes as you see it except the pedals you will get are "Look Clip In" style pedals. Any more questions please don't hesitate to contact me. M?!?!?

Cheap pedals
Campag Veloce Pro-Fit £15 BIN
(it doesn't say f**k all in the listing but I emailed the seller and they said they are Veloce pedals.
New cleats for these are relatively cheap although seller will include some used ones.)

they made these in a number of different tubings as far as I know...mine's a 40th anniversary one and its ORIA RANF (like this one, but in orange: http://cycleops-into.blogspot.com/2008/12/gios.html - and indeed the red one above), but I've definitely seen Columbus ones before...
