If the item being sold was a) fixed specific and b) decent then I don't see a big problem but when someone is touting a broken shit stem then I think it goes beyond the bounds of acceptability.
However this is academic as Velocio sets the rules and that's what he decided.

is it me or is this 'no here and ebay rule' a bit silly? (im refering to wibble argument above)
if people keep ignoring it doesnt it mean there is something wrong with the rule and not them?
it just seems to create so many pointless arguments and makes for a slightly unfriendly atmosphere.
what is the reasoning behind it? could there be a vote whether to keep it or not?

Because we have a classified section if you want to sell your stuff in the first place, putting your ebay link here would be deemed as trying to advertised it as much as possible in order to get the bids up.
whether in the classified section, they don't have bidding war, just reasonable offer/dibs/buy it now.

The forum is run by Velocio. He sets the rules, sometimes in consultation and sometimes not. We abide by them.
This thread is meant to be for people to post items they've found on ebay or other sites to help out people who are looking for parts/frames/wheels etc., and is expressly not for people to link to their auctions. Other people can do this though.
That is all.

@ed - fair argument, what if someone has tried flogging it in the classifieds section to no avail and then stuck it on ebay, maybe some one visits rarely and when they do they just check out a few threads including the ebay one. . .
thats also deemed acceptable, because you tried to sell it here in the first place, if it doesn't work, i.e. no buyer or did not meet the price set by the seller, ebay is the last resort.

^ really? oh ok, that means i have never broken the rules :)

I think he's right about this place being a bit harsh sometimes.
this can be true but there are "not many" rules so the ones that are there should be obeyed.
i think its 6 of one and half a dozen of another .. it was a mistake, he got told, it should be left.
get back to posting ebay gems. :-) -

He should be boiled in oil.
as a rule, rules are meant to be broken. Just not this one as it's boring.
(so, I agree with you).
