![](http://i.ebayimg.com/23/!BUlpNfgCGk~$(KGrHgoOKioEjlLmfBoYBKORriOvIw~~_1.JPG)The Itera Plastic Bicycle was attempted in Sweden in the early 1980s to modernize the bicycle by replacing metal with plastic fiber composite materials and using injection moulding. The project ended after three years as a commercial failure.

Seller's reply:
The holes should NOT be drilled out to accept a blade. These were built by taking a needle file and cutting a slot the same width as the spoke in the opposite direction to that which the spoke is pulling against. This way the hub suffers no loss of strength and is in fact how DT and Bontrager build their wheels today except that they are machine cut. Hope this helps you?

How do you lace them then? The blades won't fit through the holes???

A bargain Scapin for someone looking for a complete geared bike.
Less of a bargain, it's only the frame and forks for sale. My mistake.

Some bladed spokes spokes fit standard hubs (spoke holes), some don't...
If you have to slot the hubs, file a slot in the direction of the axle (radially). So, not towards the outside and not towards the other spoke holes.
Or, even better, use the dedicated punch tool. -
