I'm wondering if I should do a faux naive question asking how much it cost him to ship it from the US, with a link to the flikr photo which makes it clear it was (and probably still is) in the US.
you'd be wasting your time he/she/they wont answer. and they certainly wont answer and publish the Q&A

it's funny isn't it? report something stolen or illegal on gumtree and they actually take action, but on ebay, it takes them forever to take any action.
they will only jump if you tell them that the person offered you a deal off line . or if they think that they are being cut out of the action and they will not get their fees. thats the only time they do anything. oh and the other way is if you tell them the item is fake

Maybe, but at the moment he might be wondering how he's been sussed. Or might it be more interesting if he doesn't know how he's been sussed and tries the same trick again?

it will be a while before he can sell anything i would imagine. as a new seller these final prices will probably max out the amount of money he is allowed to owe the bay. you see when the auction ends they straight away add it on to his/her/their seller tally. 5% on what must be a cumulative total nearing £300,000.00 is going to be quite a sum :-)
sorry if i missed something
