To be fair £70 is nothing, I'd say its alright for that price (although I have never ridden one).
-
• #12153
yeah at least he didn't pay £200 for it, actually £70 is pretty much what this monstrously is worth.
zep, quick recommendation, change your chain (it's known to snap easily) and if you're handy with a spanner, check the whole bike before you ride it just to be on the safe side (yep, it is that bad).

Oh my lord..... well, someones gotta I suppose
Oh well, as long as zep enjoys it and has fun riding it then its all good. I have mixed feeling about unipacks. If someone gets one and it gets them riding bikes then it is only a good thing.

**Campagnolo Shamal Track Wheelset Auction **
Sure their gunna fetch a tidy amount. :-(
Niice. Do clincher track shamals actually exist? Or will they all be mutant re-laced ones.
-
• #12157

jammy: Ask yourself... If you where a trackie that could afford top of the line wheels... would you not run tubs on them? No, they don't exist..
-
• #12159
crap! you can buy top line clinchers like vittoria open corsa, with 240+tpi that run like tubs.
-
• #12160
dogballs: Those must have been relaced to different rims... Or have been used for Tri or something? Had they been used with brakes?
Also, if you want to use these babies on the track you'd want to run 19mm tubs.. since that's what they are designed for..
-
• #12161
no rim wear. saw them with my own eyes. lots of weird stuff exists, like those mega hi-lo flange campag hubs
-
• #12162
dogsballs: I would still bet they didn't come like that from the factory... :) but whatever :)
A guy in copenhagen has one of those hi/lo hubs... looks pretty funny, would not call it pretty :) -
• #12163
it's like anything, if you got the coin, you could order anything at the factory.

Not sure if im meant to list stuff not yet bought but...
Got this for 69quid off ebay yesterday & I am a happy bunny!
:DRead this thread all the way through
http://www.londonfgss.com/thread5205.html
Mind you at 69 quid you cant complain, but as others have said replace the chain straight away - but dont bother upgrading anything else as you will just be wasting your money

:Dmeh. you got an entire bike for under £70! that's great! don't listen to the haters, even if it falls apart after a month, it's still cheaper than a tube pass so you're set!
my advice would be: ride it, enjoy it, start planning for your next bike.

Seller doesn't do things by halves! City banker? Haha.
Well done, Dixon. Rourkes are flippin' lovely. Bike for life.

I just won this...........I think its a decent price, please feel free to reassure me!
I had a look at the Rourke website and the 953 standard road F&F was £1400!
Going to have lots up for sale to pay for it though.
Watch this space!
collect it when its raining and ask the seller if they have a rain jacket or top you could borrow

What do people think to this? It is claimed to be a 50s Bate's frame, has Nervex lugs but looks to fit 700C well. What do you reckon it's worth? BTW - There's a small ding on the seattube.

definitely looks like a early 60's bates by the nervex lugs, if it was a pure track frame built for tubs, you will get tight clearances. shit paint letting it down and no headbadge £150-180 frame and forks

it did. ended up having campy record hubs which was a nice surprise and an extra set of forks (original and drilled). seat tube is 60 which is a bit too big for me though, but i can just stand over. strange tubes - go from round at lugs to oval. going for a ride in a minute.
hows yours?
Oh my lord..... well, someones gotta I suppose
