Yup - as of last week. As my right arm is my source of income ;-P I had to give it the full six weeks healing recommended by the doctors before I risked getting back on my bike. Spent the last month whinging to my mates that I couldn't go riding and TFL were eating into my beer money. But all good now. :-D

What happened while skidding to do yourself that much damage?

Deserted street in Canary Wharf on my way home at midnight on a monday. Know idea what happened as I blacked out. But you could tell it was a quiet night as 10 Canary Wharf security guards, 1 Police car (with 3 officers) and an amulance crew all turned up!

Wow sounds dramatic ;) Good your mended!

Nice job healing up - I am in a similar position after fucking around on my home from the pub and shattering my collarbone. I also got a nice bit of metal and a big scar to show for it.
-
• #57
Sorry to hear that - another one joins the club. Bloody collarbones. How's your bike?
-
• #58
I love it that when people have checked a person is ok after an accident, the next question is always "How's the bike?"
Like the bike is a part of the family too :-) -

Heellloo there, first post on forum.
I am a newly recruited London fixed wheeler, just finished my first build a few weeks ago and absolutely loving it!!! 52x19 on an old MBK frame that I got from freecycle.. lovely! Infact I'm looking out for another frame to do yet another conversion already...!
Anyway, hiya!!
(Any hints on how to upload a picture of my (ugly-sorry!) bike?

Well I can see why you're here... the SFFixed board runs a little slow doesn't it? Must have a word with onetwentyeight about that.
This board must fly for you, since it does for us and the server is actually in Texas.

Howdy,
I must admit that this is a premature membership, as I have finally decided to go fixed (having never had my own). Since I have little experience in more major work, I'm looking for someone to help convert my rescued Peugeot Carbolite 103.
I'd be happy to cook for you/trade music (taste overlap permitting)/exchange skill in return for your helping me... not to mention feeling of pride you'd have when you see me riding around town.
And of course there'd be beer/ice-cream on completion (if not during).
Thanx.

I converted an old carbolite, not too dificult.
where's your hood?

RPM-
Holloway Rd.
I presume I should get a specific wheel eh? It still has the original.
Any advice on parts?
-
• #73
Big up da Holloway massiv
I would love to help you, but the last thing I need is another distraction. If you're still doing it in a month or so I'm in it for the beer/ice cream
-
• #74
shame you're the other side of town.
but yeah, it's always better to get a new wheel built up.the stock rims are horrible, well mine were. massive old weinman chrome things.
as with most things it ALL depends on budget....sometimes spending a little to get specific parts means a lot less work on the build.

Thanks RPM.
Rattlebag- my last final is May 24, so after that is ideal for me actually. I'm pretty keen to get it done, so let me know if you think this'll work out!
Welcome... are you back on the bikes then?
