Really enjoy my fixie, have done 5000+ miles on it now,but im not new to fixies as I first rode one in the mid 1990's.Great bikes with great control.Im definitely fitter using one and have been racing the kids recently.

Bonjour!
I have been procrastinating to a friend in Bristol for a year or so now, that I would convert an old Coventry Eagle frame form the 80's into a single speed, to use whilst I'm living in London for a few months. I like the idea of no gears, so I'm looking for advice on where to start, what and how to do it.
Cheers
Lloyd

I have this bike:
Old Cov Eagle, running a 10 speed set-up, (5x2), I have been riding it round E14 in a single speed for a few weeks and its fine, however I would rather remove the problem of gear mech, however I have no idea where to start?I have a problem with the rear wheel in that the dish is not centering the wheel. IT runs true, but 1.5cm to the left as you look for the rear.
I am picking up a 700c wheel at the weekend with a deore hub/cassette, so what can I do to get this running single? Is it just something like this:
http://www.velosolo.co.uk/shopsingle.html
plus a chain, or do I need something else? the drop outs are horizontal, or near as damn it.Cheers

Hi all, Just built up my first ss, will be giving fixed a proper go soon. Are pedal straps a must in your guys opinion? Cheers.

^^straps or clips or cleats, some form of foot retention. in my opinion (my correct opinion).
-
• #4918
You can ride fixed without foot retention; if you don't mind reducing your shins to bloody stumps by repeatedly smashing them against the pedals. I mean the choice is all yours, but to do anything else is stupid.

Morning all, brand new here and know nowt about the singlespeed world. Riding a Maurice but with most of my own bits on it. Saw the polo at the Bike Show and fancy a go, so will be looking into that, and hopefully going on a few rides etc.

Hi, I thought about selling my bike a long time ago now but financial decisions have pushed me into having to actually doing it! I really need a guidance as to how much my bike is worth and am hoping I am posting in the right place, please redirect me if this is incorrect! Here is my bike and appreciate any guide prices that I should put my bike on as just because I would be gutted if I sold it for completely the wrong price/likewise wouldnt want to put it on at too higher price.
The bike has:
sugino 75 njs cranks*
campagnolo bottom bracket
campagnolo internaz vintage seatpost with aerodynamic fluted section
campagnolo front hub
Front wheel has aerodynamic spokes 24 inches - mavic gl330 sprint rim - tubular tyre but all 24 inch front wheels are so not a problem
charge real fixed gear wheel with a flip flop hub, 700c*
nitto pearl 8 stem
long white handlebar wraps
french*berthet lyothardpedals with njs clips and white straps - no toe overlap
selle italia white saddle
Diatech gold finger front break
