Hey Guys, just joined London Fixed Gear, built my first fixie from a peugeot road bike which i like to think of as my learning/experimental bike. i have found somebody to buy this one now while i play around on my new project which is a concorde mistral frame. just moved up to manchester so am enjoying the new scenery on my cycles!

Hi, I am from West Sussex. Mostly been previously into MTB and local cycling but going to invest in first road bike and now considering a fixed gear too. See them more the more I look! So I am on here to find out a bit more. I have recently joined the cycling world as part of my work as helping on a cycle sportive and thought it was a mad idea when someone suggested completing the 115miles on a fixie! Anyway hopefully will find out some very useful information along the way!

I am, like my name suggests a fat old bloke. i like bikes, riding & building. lived in London [North & West] Brighton [lewes rd] France [Foix] and at the mo, Oxford [south] which is the not very posh bit. Was riding up hills on my granny gear and then found this forum now all my bikes are SS.
So hello! to a fforum which has had me weeping with laughter more than once.FOB

Hello, I like to ride my bicycle on pavements, the opposite way up one way streets, and only Olivia Newton John should wear lycra. Cycled in London for 17yrs, but have only discovered this site on moving back to Ireland.
Oh yeah, and I have a big horn on my bicycle. -

Hi all, I'm SE London based, coming to the realisation that riding a clunky hybrid for my commute is not satisfying my growing bike interests. joining up to learn a bit more...

Hello! Originally from NYC and now in north London...joining in to learn more about fixies. Don't really have room in the flat for a 3rd bike, but maybe I'll be convinced to swap my MTB for a SS. Would do wonders for my commuting time! Plus, they're pretty.

Hello.
It's easy enough to add a single speed conversion kit to any MTB. You can even rebuild the wheel with a fixed hub if you want to go all the way. Although riding off-road on a fixie is maybe going a little far for most people! And there is no reason an MTB can't be pretty. Mine is gorgeous (when I can be bothered to wash all the mud off) :)

Hi all I,m Charlie from the isle of wight I,m 45 raced quite a bit in my 20's gave up in my 30's and just got back on my bikes this year after having the kids leave home and leave me with free time and a reawakened intrest in riding again.
I still have my old msteel time trial bike and have just finished building up a ribble with some good bits and bobs, not been out on the road as such yet but I have done 4 months on the turbo and managed to drop 3 stone with the help of a good diet so getting back toward a more acceptable weight for riding. Looking forward to getting to know my way round the site and getting to know a few of you guys
bye for now
