yes yes! my gf lives around charing cross hospital so not too far. could go over hammersmith brige/water works way? havent yet been that way. i've got pretty familiar riding from marylebone to hers but thats about it...
Cool. most of my travels are also along fairly familier routes - commute across town and getting to friends etc. Could be fun just to get lost for a while, as it were.
And I should be back in Brum as well in a week or two, but will be riding my geared bike..

North of Krakow? I was south for new years.

I'm a newbie, and a young one I think ?
hi people, I've been browsing around the internet for forums like this and this seems to be the best one for me !
I am still a 15 year old kid and am sick of gears and I now hate them, all they do is break, and the simplicity of riding fixed or single speed its brilliant.
I am churning through the things I may need to know about OTP and getting my hands on one, while i am doing it can anyone give me any advise about fixed bike and what is good or crap(ect)? I have seen all the commotion about those unipak ones, so i think i will be staying awat from them!
cheers

By far, the best way to start off is by building up your own bike - you aquire goog technical knowledge and you'll end up with something personalised to be proud of. However, if you want to get riding straight away, use the forum search function and read the 'OTP' threads.
If you do decide to take the plunge then read up on Sheldon Brown's website for tech info, get yourself a frame and a tool kit such as this one and start building up one componant at a time. You can do this on the cheap by buying form other forum members or over the net.... and don't be afraid ask for advice, although it's generally best if you search for the info you need before starting a new thread.

Building my own bike from scratch would be the best thing ever, but don't have the time at the moment, and bike being my chosen transport pretty much everywhere I want one as soon as possible.
I'm looking at the OPT thread now !thanks x

Hi all, I'm new here too. just registered.
Been riding fixed for about 12-18 months now in birmingham. i got my frame for £5 (an old claude bultler road frame) which i got powdercoated. its a sweet sweet ride.
my gf recently moved down to london (hammersmith) so i am down there half my weekends in a given month. take my bike when i can or when hell hasn't frozen over.
is anyone on here round hammersmith/west london fancy a ride sometime? would be good to get familiar with surroundings or go exploring round those parts. peace
I'm up by Goldhawk road so could be up for it!
hey you two, welcome, we got quite a few riders around that part of west london, always going for the odd ride, come to west beers on a thurs and meet a load of us.

Its the getting up for work at 6.30 on Fridays that worries me (esp. as I don't drink much).. I have been meaning to though, and would certainly be up for the rides.
Mastershredder, have you looked at the birmingham social bit?

I'd love to but as im birmingham in the week days I wont be able to but im up for the occasional saturday ride if there happens to be one, would be good to meet some riders round there.
Also, does anyone know where the good bike shops (good in terms of service, repairs, etc) are round west london? (closer to hammersmith the better).

Hello, everyone!
I introduce myself here.
I've been enjoying my single speed for a while and thinking to switch Fixed from single, but my frame's got problem that the bottom bracket is jammed.
The website is very good! I get lots of info.
