  • Condor seemed very confident about getting them, I bet they're lying to me.

  • can't see why you'd have any probs getting CXP33's??
they're most places on-line and in plenty of shops...

  • hamster:the guys over at 53-12.com in essex do velocities. i've ordered a set through them - still waiting on them. will let you know how it turns out...

ok, upon waiting about 8 weeks for these guys i went and bought the rims at brick lane bikes.

  • I had trouble finding CXP33's last autumn in real life and online.

But then i found them at http://www.parker-international.co.uk/ProductDetails/mcs/productID/1852

  • Right I need to choose some new rims for my goldtec hubs. Any recommendations?

    • not too heavy, lighter the better
    • strong
    • not too bling (locked up outside)
    • black only!

I'm thinking CXP33s or Open pros. Deep vs are out of the question as they are far too flashy and heavy. I quite like the velocity aeroheads but I don't think anywhere in the uk sells them.

  • Try these guys for Aeroheads.

  • know if they're any good?

  • Go here for CXP33s

    CXP33

the profile on Aeroheads are similar to the CXP33s. i just built up a new set of wheels using silver aeroheads and they look great.

  • Dunno.

Might be worth importing yer rims. I got my Deep Vs from the states and even after shipping and extortion they were less than thirty sheets apiece.

  • I'm riding with Goldtech and CXP33s - it's a really nice ride, and it doesn't look flash at all.

  • CXP33s definitely.

  • Vote for Aeroheads

  • Either Aeroheads or CXP33s. if the CXPs have eyelets, then it might be a little easier on the rim.

I say go with whichever you can get a hold of easier.

  • I'm a Velocity fan but wouldn't bother with the hassle of importing 'em unless it was a special build. Mavics are fine ('cept their freehubs are too noisy but that's not an issue on a fixed forum).

  • i dont think there's anything wrong with cxp22

  • Goldtecs and cxp33 here, like it.

    http://www.parker-international.co.uk/ProductDetails/mcs/productID/1852 cheapest cxp33's i could find.

  • I know you said black only but the cd grey rims look very understated, they are not the same as the ceramic rims just anodised grey they match the goldtec grey and would probably look good with black hubs too?

  • smith - hmmm i like!

So between cxp33s and open pros, the majority here for cxp33?

For some reason I'm tending towards the open pros, but I don't know why.

  • for the road, open pros rule.

  • rightyo. open pros it is. Plus I love the CD rims look really nice and should go with my black goldtecs.

now just to decide spoke and nipple colour!

  • @ eeehhhh,

how have you got around the Goldtec chainline issue?

  • eeehhhh rightyo. open pros it is. Plus I love the CD rims look really nice and should go with my black goldtecs.

now just to decide spoke and nipple colour!

if you're going for coloured nipples, i'd always go brass instead of aluminium. and they don't come coloured (as far as i know). the last wheel i built had aluminium nipples that seemed like they were made of butter.

  • Nobody needs buttery nipples.

When I had my wheels built up, the general feeling was that the coloured alu nips were a bit of a liability.

I originally wanted black spokes, but some builders wanted a big premium or insisted they only came DB when what I needed was PG.

  • kowalski Nobody needs buttery nipples.

    oh, how right you are.
