  • Righto. Fitting new steel fork to my On-One Inbred 29er for touring/bikepacking.

The Inbred is designed around 100mm fork. Surly's got a couple of options:

    1. Ogre fork, apparently 80mm corrected, axle-crown 268mm
    2. Krampus fork, no mention on suspension correction but axle-crown is 283mm

Krampus is 15mm longer than Ogre, so is the Krampus effectively a 95mm-corrected fork, or will my frame snap at the headtube as soon as I fit it? Will be used mainly on gravel roads, dirt paths, and easy singletrack with Midge bars and some load.

Surly also do the ECR fork. It's identical to the Ogre, except that offset is 47mm instead of 42mm, which'll reduce the trail. The Krampus fork also has 47mm offset. Head angle is 70 degrees with Ogre/ECR and 69 degrees with Krampus.

Anyone got any experience in this area?
