Outrage mate, I had the same albeit from a retail jewellers abouta ring for the missus. When it arrived it was such a dull and dirty ring, like it had been used already and nothing like it should actually have looked. Tried to refund it in store and they basically told me it had been used. Kept pointing out it was how it had arrived but would not listen.
Luckily just then i remembered sending the wife a picture of it on the phone the day I got it. Showed the manager the picure with the date stamp for proff and she couldn't argue another word. Quietly handed me the money.
I'd suggest if you have a picture of it at all to send it to him and argue the point. Load of dishonest chancers out there.
