Real shame. I think there would have been more to come from Pietersen but it needed strong management (not Ashley Giles). However crapply he played in Aus, he still scored more than anyone else. I'm not really sure we need more 'team' - we need batsmen to score runs. And he is the best at that.

Comesteyn will get a good rest tonight then destroy the Aussies tomorrow. Proteas to win at a canter. Yes.

Graeme Smith is retiring from test cricket following this match. The way this Aussie team are breaking opponents they'll have no-one to play soon.

Everyone deserves a second chance!
Really? And how many second chances would that be by now?

KP is the best we have. He is one of the greatest test cricketers we've ever had and the world has ever seen, its an undeniable fact

Late to this, but surely that is pretty debatable. His ability to give it away at any point in an innings rather than batton down and grind out a score suggests that he is not a good test cricketer. He may have produced good test innings, but I don't think he has ever had the consistency to be considered great

he's a different type of test cricketer to say, tendulkar, in the sense that pietersen is more than happy to take risks, which obviously has its downsides but for all of them, makes a much more exciting game of cricket. The important thing for me is, for as much of a team sport it is, cricket is very personal when at the crease.
The other thing to remember is the tendulkar has had 14 test match ducks to pietersen's 10...but then again, his runs makes up for it I suppose

You can't be comparing as him to Pieterson? Christ.
-
• #3565
why not? If theyre two of the best test cricketers, it makes sense?
Also in other news, I bought a new bat today. Now the rugger season is over, I thought Id go back to cricket...for the first time in yonks. Now to find a club, other than walthamstow cc
