She had to pull out last year due to knee issues and deferred her entry to this year. We've been working on some core exercises and a mix of S/B/R to keep training varied and not over emphasise the running and things have been going really well. We built up to a max of 19km at the end of January (Run on the Southern Upland Way in a snow storm, so hardly an easy run either) but a few runs later she started having pains in her knee again. She's backed off the running all Feb but did a couple of tester runs last week building up to 10km at the weekend where she felt strong and so she decided to go for it.
Over the last part of this week the knee has begun hurting again, at first hurting only at the end of a gentle 5km but by today she didn't even finish her final 3km jog.
She'll have a bit of time off running now I think, and then maybe think about some Tris/10ks later in the summer. She's gutted though because this is the first sporting challenge she's ever taken on and she's not made it 2 years running.
