• so I am looking at whether or not I want to get a new iPhone. 5s 16GB direct from Apple is £549, I am with o2, just looked at their tariffs etc, if I were to choose the £27 a month plan for a 24 months contact, I would still have to pay a minimum of £520 for the phone? Is that a joke? I know iPhones are not as heavily discounted as some other phones, but £29 off the RRP and still a minimum of 2 years contract? Am I missing something?

I spent some time online chatting with O2 retentions yesterday. I currently have an iPhone 4 and my bill is £37 a month. I'm 2 years overdue an upgrade. The best deal they would do is scrap the upfront charge for a 16BG IP5s at £37/month or £59 upfront for 32BG IP5s still at £37/month. I pushed hard to get the monthly payments down but they kept saying the prices are fixed and they can't do anything. I tried for a free 32GB phone but again they could only go down to £59.

    tl:dr

I've just bought the phone outright and will get a giffgaff or tesco sim at £10/month
