Apologies for not being able to embed this properly, and further apologies if it's been posted on here before. Worth a watch though, was in genuine fear for the little kid on his bike around the buses.

  • this will go viral!

  • finger-jockey, that video is amazing because of the kid riding around the buses, no helmet, has plenty of time, looks over his shoulder, rides round the bus and carries on about his business, great stuff.

  • Is it me, or is there just less motor traffic on the roads? I'm struck by how casual most of the cyclists are. I think the period sunglasses help.

  • Good find!

Down tube shifters, clips & straps and an almost total absence of hi-viz.

Dick Jones (from 14:40) is an absolute geezer.

    deal with it. etc.

  • Good find!

I can't claim this, got it through londoncyclist.co.uk

  • and Corny beat you by 16 hours.. and twitter by 24.. :P

  • err.. bump.

  • Bah! F the F'ing Search. Failure! Sorry for the repost Corny.

  • finger_jockey, no worries, it's good enough to have its own thread...

  • Fantastic video
    RLJ at 16:12. Close call

  • the more things change, the more they stay the same..

  • almost total absence of hi-viz.

    Lovely tabard at 3.43

  • Awesome vid, I'll have to watch at home with sound.

  • This just proves that Britain is a driving nation... We don't like cycling and don't need cyclists.. The small minority who do like cycling (and wont shut up about it) should move to Holland or Denmark and leave the rest of us in peace..

Good to see that the comments for this video are as littered with bellends (both for and against cycling) as is to be expected on YouTube

  • n/a

  • Strangely enough not ten minutes after watching that I saw someone cycling down a backstreet using a full, functioning front-and-rear set of those massive Ever Ready battery lamps. So wow, much retro etc.

  • Refreshing to see cyclists in normal clothes and no helmets.

  • I was 20 then and had just bought a Cannondale tourer to cycle the across the Tibetan plateau (didn't happen, life got in the way). Great to see this. Shimano Index System (SIS) had just come out. I tried it for about a week.

  • Those were the days.

yes much less traffic and more road space, cycling around london in the 1980's was so much better than it is now, especially as there was so much less parked cars which now take up 2/3rds of the road width… and there just weren't the thousands of mini cabs driving around there is now.

I still use the "ambassadors" cycle route regularly, had no idea it had a name, and like the taxi up him tailgating round the corners, no change there.

  • Used to cycle up on my Ron Cooper
