    Well I was sat in the pub on Saturday, a few pints into a relaxing afternoon session, the sun was setting on a slightly blustery but sparkling day and all felt well with the world. Someone was whaffling on about riding bikes and stuff and I was distractedly agreeing with them. Next thing I know I'm replying to some email, isn't modern technology wonderful. Anyway, looking at my emails this morning I get the distinct impression that I'm doing this ride, apparently it starts and finishes in a pub, not sure what happens in between but what's the worst that could happen?

    You discover it's too early to get a beer and you've forgotten your hip flask.

    This has never happened to me but I did wake up a few times in the night before last years ride to check my kit list (and to check the quality of the flask contents, which then made me restless about not having enough left to get me through 'til lunch).

    tl;dr? Pack your hip flask and make sure it is full or face the prospect of being sober whilst out on your bike.
