^ be careful though, saying "it's alright mate" is nice and friendly now but there's countless stories of injuries turning up later.. or worse, carbon deciding it's unhappy and cracking on you on a fast downhill.
It would be good to get some admission of liability in writing (email/paper) now to save any future aggro. Also, he did deliberately hit you with a large metal box. Is he claiming smidsy?
