may I enquire what bottle cages those are? they look neat.
plus that red is very very noice.
-
• #205
They're King Iris cages.
They're actually slightly too small for most bottles, so I wouldn't recommend them hugely. -
• #206
Ah thanks. So maybe I should look for something else then, though in a similar style would be great.

Feeling love for the forum right now! Will install tomorrow hopefully.
Had a go just now but realised that my LBS has put the BBs in the wrong frames: 102mm in the track frame, 111mm in the road frame...
so I have to wait til they're switched over until I can get going. Also, I really wanted a 50t not 48t... debating wether to keep the 48t and get a 50t TA chainring for £40 (still within budget as I got the chainset much cheaper than expected) or flog the 48t to raise funds for a proper Campagnolo 50t one.
Erring towards TA to give me more options for fixed road use should the fancy take me.Just new rims and wheel-building lessons on the to-do list.

Why does a TA chainring give you more optinons for fixed road use?
Am sure I saw a 50 or 51t record chainring on the forum today, can't remember which thread though.
-
• #210
Only cos it's cheap enough to allow me to keep both.
Thanks for the link... annoyingly I sold my 50t to Kal a few months ago on the assumption that I would get a 50t chainset from Ribble and he's sold it on already. -

48 or 49t is a great tooth count for an all rounder though imo, I toured from North France to Northern Spain on 48/17, pretty versatile gear. Drop to a 14 or 15 cog for track or raise to a 19 for hilly rides... sorted. Currently running 49/19 on the daily, always thought it would be too light but is pretty damn pleasant.

I'm really after 50x15 (90") for the track... I used it last summer and it felt exactly right for "racing" on Monday nights. I figure 48x17 will be pretty good for road, although it's been about a year since I last rode fixed, (and that was with heavy panniers most of the time). If it's possible to tour France and Spain on 48x17 then it must be okay for pissing around Kent : ) Thanks for the tip.
change your bike shop...
They're usually very good so I don't mind too much.
The axle being too long also explains why the road bike won't shift onto the bigger ring until the last click of the shifter, which has been slightly annoying so far.

I now have two bicycles again:
Just wheels to go and they'll be fully matching.

Much nice. Will you be at Herne Hill this year?
-
• #216
Yup!
Will probably head down for a few chaingangs to get my eye back in before the new accreditation tests. Are you still a regular on Saturdays at the moment? -
• #217
Haven't been since December sadly but will be back for Saturdays again this year I suspect. Since finishing the Roberts road bike been mostly enjoying that tbh.
