I stripped the spare engine on the weekend, ready for the rebuild. I did all of the work up at Sarah's Uncle's place. It is a petrolhead's wonderland. banks of webers on racks, four(!) lotus twinks, rare racing bits. awesome. the marcos in the photo is his newly completed racer (which I could get in, but almost couldn't get out of...), the elan sprint is the b road blaster, and in the garage is an elan 26r racer. he has had some belters, too.
anyway, the engine is 35 years old and still on the original bearings, pistons, rings, etc. Everything looked pretty good, too - could have got away with a re-ring. i now need the machine work done. his shop are busy for months before the start of the season.
in search of the magical 100bhp!
