I'm sure it would if you rode in jeans on it for long enough (it has definitely started to smooth over a little, though I only rode it for a couple of weeks) but I found it uncomfortable and it felt like it was going to damage my nice-but-pricey bib shorts. It really is very grippy.
For a while I was considering getting it recovered in perforated leather by Busyman but I couldn't really justify the expense.
