  • the copper is also 1/1000th of a inch thick
therefore it won't have much effect at all on weight or track nuts

  • This is the look I am aiming for (from this Flickr set):

  • Shame abt chrome bars and braking surface otherwise looks good. Black understated components on yours should work, spesh after she starts to tarnish.

  • I was concerned that this was going to be shit but it looks like it could turn out brilliantly, good work!

  • The detailing on the bottom bracket shell turned out awsome !!!

  • Picked up a lovely LOOK 486 donor bike yesterday. I had been looking for an all black Campy Record groupset without Skeleton brakes for some time, but finding one in good condition proved to be quite difficult. The groupset on this bike looks near new. A shame the wheels don't have black rims, because they look absolutely amazing.

  • fark! that's some donor bike... you going UD carbon for the rims? otherwise you'd have silver brake surfaces?

  • what's wrong with skeleton brakes btw?

  • They work fine, but I don't like the bulky look of Skeleton brakes on skinny steel frames.

  • How much for the look frame and what size?!

  • For the frame I am looking for EUR 500. Condition is near mint. Size is 56 or 58 (would have to check to be sure).

  • Slowly coming together. I had to sand the inside of the seat tube a bit to get the seatpost to slide in properly. I haven't been able to get the RD on, because there is too much copper on the threads, so I will need to get those cut. I am expecting something similar for the bottom bracket, although these threads were covered during the copper plating.

  • Good to see the bike "on its feet" !!!
Messing with the threads must be scary. I feel that my X-status frame is a bit on the fragile side.

Love the black components, on the bike ! I would go black wheels as well !

  • Although the Eurus's don't look nearly as bad as I thought they would, I agree that a pair of black hoops will look much nicer.

  • I don't think the tyres are particularly helping... Destickered with black tyres or even gum walls could be the way.

  • I will change the tires and put on some bar tape and a saddle, before I decide whether or not to keep the wheels or not.

I agree, if everything else is black the would look cool (would match the frame colour) !

Keep us posted with progress !

  • Actually I thought these would be even nicer. Shame I sold them a couple of months ago.

  • Below are two possible options for wheels. The first set is a pair of Corima clincher rims laced to M5 hubs. The second set is a pair of Mavic Open Pro rims laced to silver Campagnolo Record titanium hubs.

Not sure which I like best (not sure if I like one of both for that matter). With tires on I suppose the Corima wheels will look pretty sweet. That said, with the other set, the bike looks a bit more like a crit racer.

Before I make a decision on what wheels to go for, I plan to finish the build. Unfortunately the platers forget to cover the RD thread, so the bike it is currently at my LBS, who is going to try to chase the the threads.

  • Corima wheels look excellent. Will look even better with tan walls.

Not sold on the Thomson post though, needs something either subtle and carbon fiber or more classic looking.

  • Corima wheels +1000

Personal preference but I'm not keen on the anatomic bars plus would look better in black.

  • Copper plated Thomson for the win?

  • Copper plated Thomson for the win?
That + black Soma Hwy Ones.
