My girlfriend recently bought a lovely second hand Pearson "Easy come easy go", although it has a double crankset on the front with quite high gearing at 53-39.
Bearing in mind that she's not a pro cyclist, and would like to carry some luggage and go up steep hills etc, I think it would be great to get her a compact crankset.
Although something smaller than the bog standard 50-34 would be useful, something like 44-28. And I know White industries/Sugino have some great cranks that fit the bill but unfortunately cost an absolute bomb.
So...
**Can anyone suggest a solution? **If you know of any cranks that fit the bill, or whether I should look into converting a triple etc
